New Horizons

peony blanket

I finally made my first patchwork blanket!! I say,”finally”, because I have wanted to do one for a long, long time. I sew all of the time and have made more complicated things… but for some reason it seemed like such a daunting task. Maybe it’s because I have a friend who dabbles in quilting-you know who you are-who could put me to shame. I just love this print from Amy Butler, so I had to get it in multiple colors. It is backed and bound by a classic off white chenille. I am going to call this one “Patchwork Peony”. I love the idea of falling in love with a fabric even before you know what to do with it. And then it just seems to meld itself with others so perfectly. That is my favorite part. Helping those lonely pieces find a mate, or two. I was in the process of trying to use up most of my hoard. Until I filled my shopping cart to the brim today. Oh, well! This was my very first post, and I have to say that it was very satisfying. Here’s to new techniques, new outlets, and new horizons!

  1. Wow! That is so pretty! I’m so glad you’ve joined us here in blogland. The name is great and that picture of your little one all wrapped up in one of your hooded towels is precious!

  2. Welcome to blogland ! I’m new to blogging too. I like the blanket, those two fabrics together work nicely. Amy Butler has the most wonderful fabrics. Her color pallete can be so soothing to work with.

  3. Love your patchwork, I do them too. I find they are just so relaxing to do by hand. Keep at it and welcome to blogsville. I only started this month too. Its great having comments.
