October 31, 2011 at 4:31 pm | Posted in Holidays!, kidstuff, sewing | Leave a commentIt’s dress up time! My girls dressed up for a Western adventure and no cowgirl is complete without her bandana. They wore them to school so I didn’t want them to have to deal with the traditional knotted bandana. I applied a denim button on to one side and an elastic loop to the other.
Perfect solution! They could easily take it on and off and it was never too tight. Not too shabby!
easter tree.
April 19, 2011 at 10:45 pm | Posted in Holidays!, kidstuff, whichcraft? | 2 CommentsI had a little fun with my little girls this afternoon making these easter bonsai, as we like to call them. It’s amazing what you can do with a tin can, plaster, a branch and some hot glue.
One of my favorite parts is the little nests that they added made from wool roving and tiny beads.
My little apples didn’t fall far from this tree.

April 1, 2011 at 11:43 pm | Posted in feed me!!, Holidays!, kidstuff | Leave a commentMmmm. Spaghetti? Probably not. Cake and icing with strawbery sauce and chocolate bon bon meatballs topped with grated white chocolate. It was so much fun to see their faces as I cut into it.
Cinnamon rolls? Not quite. Dough rolled up with sausage and cheese with a layer of Cheese Whiz icing.

I placed my doilies into embroidery hoops and hung them with suction cup hooks. I played with the idea of hanging them with ribbon from the ceiling but I love the shadows these make in the sunlight.

The holidays are quickly approaching and it’s time to start cranking out those handmade gifts. This little wine tag will make any bottle special.
happy easter.
April 3, 2010 at 4:50 pm | Posted in Holidays!, kidstuff, sewing | 4 CommentsThe big Easter treat for this year were these sweet sleeping bunnies. I’ve been in love with the Baby Binky Bunny by mmm crafts for quite some time so I thought it was the perfect time to purchase the PDF pattern.
It was a very clearly written pattern with simple instructions. The only part that I had trouble with was the embroidery. My fault. I’m really bad. I am a machine sewer!

Their fluffy tails are so cute! And so easy! They are pom poms made from yarn.
And the pattern includes easy instructions for a cute little blankie.
Be sure and check out the mmm crafts blog. Quite an eyeful!
upcycled candy heart cupcakes.

How much fun can you have with a blow torch and some leftover mini candy canes? More than one would think!
Unwrap the candy canes and place them up against each other in a heart shape. Place them on a surface that can not only withstand the heat but that has a nonstick surface. I used a baking sheet with a silpat mat placed on top of it.
Gently heat up the joining points of the candy cane heart. If you place direct heat in any one spot for too long it will discolor. Immediately push the joining points together until set.
You can place it on an iced cookie or hang it up with ribbon. I like mine simply placed on a yummy cupcake!
Have a Happy Valentine’s Day!
paper doilie owls.
January 21, 2010 at 9:34 am | Posted in Holidays!, kidstuff | 3 CommentsDo you see what I see?
I was just passing by when I spied this pack of paper doilies in the Valentine’s Day department. I heard exactly what they were begging to become. Owls, of course!
I had my 2 little helpers get out the felt and glue to make a litttle family of feathered friends.

They had such a good time making each one unique.

This young man even got into it. We sent him out for something to display our owls on.

I love the way my little guy turned out.
The next time something speaks to you… listen.
